Meet David Fournier (PDGA #28254)

Tell us about yourself! How old are you? Where do you live? What do you do (work/school/etc.)?

I am 61 years old, play in the MA60 group, live in Colorado Springs Colorado (Was born and raised in Southern California) I work as an Automotive Service Advisor Trainer and have been involved in disc golf for just around 15 years

Tell us about the most important people in your life! Who do you live with (family, friends, etc.)?

Jana Fournier (wife) and the three boys Jack (20) Samuel (17) and Andrew (15) great family and very supporting of my disc golf addiction

Do you have a nickname or just something else that you go by?

I have been called a few names-but no nickname has stuck

How long have you been playing disc golf?

Just over 15 years-took a few years break when I moved to Colorado

How did you get started with disc golf?

A church youth director asked me to come out and help with the group (a ploy) and I was hooked

What do you do when you’re not playing disc golf?

Enjoy spending time with my wife (she functions a dual role of wife and my best friend), teaching on my podcast about building an enjoyable and meaningful life.. and watching the boys grow..

What is your absolute favorite food (something you couldn’t live without)?

Man, why pick just one… okay-pizza

What’s your favorite fast-food restaurant?

Carl’s Jr.

What are some of your favorite movies of all time?

The Da Vinci Code, Saving Private Ryan, Ghostbusters…

What are a few of your favorite disc golf courses to play?

Ultra Disc Golf Course in Fort Collins, Johnny Roberts in Arvada, Lions Den Lake George

What is a dream disc golf course for you that you hope to play someday?

Oak Grove in California

Do you have any pre-round or post-round rituals that you do when you play disc golf?

Always stretch-get loosened up…

Do you drink, smoke, snack, or partake in anything else while playing disc golf? What’s your go-to?

I’m 61, I snack like I’m grazing… and lot’s of water

Are you just a casual disc golfer? Do you participate in any local leagues? Do you compete in disc golf tournaments?

I play casual with a great group on Sundays, and about 20 PDGA events a year

Do you have any tips for aspiring disc golfers?

Have fun, ask questions and try stuff.. Don’t look for results too early and start with putters and mid-ranges (drivers will happen later) and… prettier discs don’t always fly farther

Scott Stokely (he’s been a great mentor and friend) Sarah Hokom and Catrina Allen

Do you have any disc golf goals that you are trying to achieve?

YES!! I want to play into my 70’s.. 

Who do you typically play disc golf with?

Wide range-locals-friends and competitive people in my age bracket

What would a perfect disc golf round look like for you?

Really having fun and helping new players along the way.. New player development is the key as we move forward.. We want to grow the sport deep, not just wide..
