Meet Adam “southpaw” Casel (PDGA #46846)

Tell us about yourself! How old are you? Where do you live? What do you do (work/school/etc.)?

I’m a 40yr old diesel body technician from southern Idaho.

Tell us about the most important people in your life! Who do you live with (family, friends, etc.)?

The most important people would have to be my girlfriend and her daughter which are simply the best 

Do you have a nickname or just something else that you go by?

How long have you been playing disc golf?

2008-2014 then after an 8yr break started back up in 2022

How did you get started with disc golf?

I was working at a ski resort during the summer that had/ has a massive course on it and a co-worker handed me a white dx xd and said let’s go throw. After the first couple of holes I was hooked. 

Share some of your memorable disc golf moments…

What do you do when you’re not playing disc golf?

When I’m not on the course I’m either painting, chilling with my girls and our dogs. 

What is your absolute favorite food (something you couldn’t live without)?

Pepperoni sausage and olive pizza

What’s your favorite fast-food restaurant?

Wienerscnitzel 

What are some of your favorite movies of all time?

The crow, pulp fiction, and eternal sunshine on the spotless mind

What are some of your favorite TV shows/series?

Archer, x-files and the simpsons

Do you have any pro or college sports teams you are fanatic about?

La chargers and Oregon ducks

What is the first disc golf disc that you ever owned?

White innova dx xd

What are some of your favorite discs that are in your bag right now?

Orange pfn Valkyrie, white 11x kc pro roc pink star wraith 

What else is always in your bag other than discs?

Beef jerky and cashews

Disc Golf Courses

Do you have a course that you consider your ‘home course’? Tell us about it.

Rock creek dgc, a technical cross of desert and wooded course with tons of ob and disc eating creek  along the entire right side of the front 9. 

What are a few of your favorite disc golf courses to play?

Rock creek, college of southern Idaho, when I get to make the road trip bijou, zephyr cove and dela veiga( I know I spelled that wrong)

What is a dream disc golf course for you that you hope to play someday?

Northwoods black, idlewilde dgpt layout and maple hill

Do you have any pre-round or post-round rituals that you do when you play disc golf?

Stretch, stretch and then check the water clarity of the creeks that eat discs

Do you drink, smoke, snack, or partake in anything else while playing disc golf? What’s your go-to?

Snacks, snacks and more snacks

Are you just a casual disc golfer? Do you participate in any local leagues? Do you compete in disc golf tournaments?

I run our local skins/ace league on Sunday mornings when I’m not playing in a tournament. 

Do you have any tips for aspiring disc golfers?

It’s not as easy as the pros make it look, and course practice is not the same as field work get out in the field and throw and most importantly always have fun.

Simon Lizzote, Calvin Hiemburg, Sai Ananda and Kristen Tattar 

Do you have any disc golf goals that you are trying to achieve?

Still chasing the first tournament win. 

Who do you typically play disc golf with?

Most of the time it’s with club members but occasionally I get my girls out on the course. 

What would a perfect disc golf round look like for you?

A nice spring/ fall day  with my girls and dogs and an abundant supply of birdies
