Adam Kinne – Smithfield, NC

“I went disc golfing with a friend of mine while we were on a work trip in Raleigh, NC and that was all she wrote. I had a couple of discs that wife had gotten me as a present a couple years before that and it turned out that there was a course 5 minutes from my house. I was going out 2 or 3 days a week. Then the pandemic started….we all know what happened then…”

Welcome to another edition of our Disc Golf Player Profile publication – where we feature disc golfers that you may or may not have heard of before. Everybody has their own disc golf story to tell. This is the place where those stories are being told and shared with the world!

Meet Adam Kinne (PDGA #133496)

Tell us about yourself! How old are you? Where do you live? What do you do (work/school/etc.)?

I’m 36 years old and I’ve been working at Wegmans for Five years now. I also started a little disc dyeing business a few months back and am slowly but surely growing that following.

Tell us about the most important people in your life! Who do you live with (family, friends, etc.)?

My wife, Lauren and our four year old daughter, Ava are my whole world! They keep me out of trouble and on my toes 24/7 and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Disc Golf Journey

How long have you been playing disc golf?

Almost 4 years

How did you get started with disc golf?

I went disc golfing with a friend of mine while we were on a work trip in Raleigh, NC and that was all she wrote. I had a couple of discs that wife had gotten me as a present a couple years before that and it turned out that there was a course 5 minutes from my house. I was going out 2 or 3 days a week. Then the pandemic started….we all know what happened then

Share some of your memorable disc golf moments…

Having the opportunity to play courses such as Hornets Nest and Winthrop definitely stick out. I’ll be able to add to this list in September after the USWDGC. I’m signed up to volunteer the first three days, then I’ll be taking in the Final day with daughter.

Disc Golf Courses

Do you have a course that you consider your ‘home course’? Tell us about it.

My home course is East Clayton Disc Golf Course in Clayton, NC. It’s a super challenging layout with most holes having two teepads. If you land anywhere off the Fairway, you’re probably going to be in trouble. It requires a variety of shots and will humble you very quickly.

What are a few of your favorite disc golf courses to play?

Hornets Nest and Nevin in Charlotte, NC are my favorite course that I’ve played to date. Diavolo DGC, Leigh Farm DGC, and Middle Creek DGC are some of my favorite local spots in the Raleigh area. I have also enjoyed playing the courses in the Greenville, NC area.

What is a dream disc golf course for you that you hope to play someday?
